Artificial IntelligenceΒΆ
(MS in Computer Science)
Students interested in AI require a broad range of skills including elements of data science and basic data analysis, but also a demonstrable ability to apply those skills in advanced projects with integrated, intelligent systems. The following courses are important to establish these skills, and an independent study opportunity or significant extra-curricular project effort is suggested as a portfolio item indicating the ability to integrate the necessary data analysis and CS skills.
Consider these courses:
- COMP 479: Machine Learning
- COMP 484: Artificial Intelligence
- Natural Languages Processing (still special topics COMP 488: Topics in Computer Science)
- Computer Vision (proposed)
- Computational Neuroscience (still special topics COMP 488: Topics in Computer Science)
- Faculty directed research: 6 credits of COMP 490: Independent Project
- Required COMP 417: Social, Legal, and Ethical Issues in Computing, COMP 413: Intermediate Object-Oriented Development and COMP 460: Algorithms and Complexity
